259. Boxed: BATMAN AND ROBIN

The Caped Crusader and his young  buddy in tights team up to beat up a dastardly criminal in this 1966 tin lunchbox from Aladdin. Capitalizing on the popularity of the TV series "Batman and Robin", this lunchbox has a few dents and scruffs, but is still in a serviceable, displayable shape--sans the thermos. Batman lunchboxes have always been desirable and even in this state, this lunchbox is worth about $25-$40. (A mint example would go for over $500!). I can't even remember where and how much I paid for this lunchbox, now 47 years old--but I do know it's worth keeping, to remind me of my 'kaboom, ka-poww, holy mackerel" days!

114. Holy Batmania! A BATMAN & ROBIN CLOCK

Even the Caped Crusaders have to be reminded of their bat appointments and rescue mission schedules--hence, this bedside plastic clock. I don't even know where I got this, maybe from a downtown surplus store. A quick google search says that that this is actually a Talking Alarm Clock manufactured in 1976. (There's a Snoopy and Raggedy Anne version too, sold at JC Penney's). So is this a toy that tells time? Or is this a clock that one can play? How do I know? Ask the Riddler!

109. BATMOBILE

A BAT-tery powered BAT-mobile from the 60s! Holy mackerel---and it still runs!
Only a BAT-geek could have save this fine made-in-Japan BAT-meMOBILE-ia that comes complete with vinyl heads of the Dynamic Duo ensconced in the front seats. And take note of the neon green colored front windshield! This super vehicle bumps 'n go at a flick of a switch, with amazing lighting effects! There's a blue colored version of this toy, based on the TV action series, but this red is a classic! Now back to the Batcave!!

2. Holy Cash Cow!: BATMAN & ROBIN COINBANKS

Holy Batmania! Batman and Robin coinbanks! The campy TV series ‘Batman’ (starring Adam West and Burt Ward) that first aired in 1966 proved to be such an outlandish hit that it spawned a thousand and one merchandise for gullible kids to lap up—from masks, costumes, Batmobile to more unique items such as these 7 inch porcelain banks. A Manila shop that was going out of business had old stocks of toys –so I did her a favor and cleaned up her shelves. That’s how I came to own this Dynamic Duo for just a dollar! Ka-ching! Ka-ching! Kappowww!
